Definitions for Non-Mormon Folk
MTC: Stands for Missionary Training Center. It is the place where missionaries go first to learn the language and what they are to teach.
Elder: Title given to all male missionaries.
Companion: A missionaries partner in the area that they serve.
P-Day: Stands for preparation day. This is the one day a week that missionaries take off to do laundry, write letters, or whatever they want to do to relax.
Book of Mormon: Sacred book of scripture. Follows the story of two groups of people, the Nephites and Lamenites. Also, tells the story of Christ visiting these people.
Nephites: See Book of Mormon.
Devotional: A devotional is a meeting with speakers, usually 1 or 2, talking on a spiritual subjects.
Branch: A branch is a small church congregation. Usually has less than 100 members.
District: A district is a group of about 4-12 missionaries. Usually is lead by a District Leader.
TRC: Stands for Training and Resource Center. This was a building to practice your teaching with volunteers from around the area.
