Today was a fairly long one. It was a lot of class. We had a lot of stuff to learn but I think it all stuck. Tomorrow is TRC and I haven't learned what I need to. So I have to work extra hard tomorrow to get what I need done. I know I can do it though. Well, Magandang Gabi (Goodnight).

Today was P-day. We did laundry and relaxed. We wrote letters and studied. We, for our Tuesday Night Devotional, had the Apostle Elder Russell M Nelson speak to us.

Journal Entry - 16 September 2002

Today was Monday, this is usually a hard day but today was easy. Well not easy, just not mind numbing. We learned so much, but I was able to retain it much better than usual. Goodnight.

Journal Entry - 13 September 2002

"Today was Temple Day. We went to do baptisms but ended up not being able to. The line was to long. We then had personal time. Afternoon class was basically preparing for TRC. We finally had our Pizza Hut dinner. It was so good to have real world food. Evening class was TRC. We had to do door approches. My kasama at ako (comapnion and I) had to teach a guy and his asawa(wife). Our District has made a pact that 3 days a week we will speak nothing but Tagalog, for the whole day. It will be hard, but we figure we will learn the language much quicker that way. Goodnight."

Journal Entry 12 September 2002

"Today I met a good guy. We could become friends. He is from another district in our Branch. He is Elder Lloyd headed to Tennesse. I taught him some Tagalog. It was so funny. He couldn't figure out how to say Mabobo mo. Then when he did he couldn't do it again, but he loved trying. The language is coming quite well. I can understand most of it very well. I can finally put sentances together. Well its 10:35, time to go!"

Note From Today:

Mabobo mo means nothing, I thought that was funny as heck.

Journal Entry - 10 September 2002

"Today was Tuesday Night Devotional. We had Elder Howard speak to us. We had such a spiritual experience. We sat around and talked about what the spirit leds us to do. Then we went back to the room and talked about faith-producing rumors. It was a lot of fun."

I Got 1 Letter that Day:

Grandma & Grandpa Bronec

Journal Entry - 8 September 2002

"I have never felt the spirit so strong except for in the temple. Today we had our Sunday Devotional. Today we had what I wanted to have so bad. We got to listen to an Apostle, Elder M Russell Ballard. The spirit is so strong. We were in a totally different room than he was, but the spirit was so strong. He spoke to us what seemed to be like 10 minutes, even though it was an hour. Then we went and saw the Testiments. It cartried the spirit in there. It was a movie that testified that Christ had lived on the earth and that he prophesied of the Nephites. Also, it testified that Christ came here. It was so cool. I can't put into words how great the spirit was."

Note From 11 July 2003
"I remember this being the most spiritual experience throughout my stay at the MTC. It probably still is up to this point in my mission."

Journal Entry - 6 September 2002

"Today we had our first TRC. We taught one lady and a family. It was such a cool experience. Today flew by so fast. Thats all I have to say tonight."

Journal Entry - 5 September 2002

"Today went on forever. I just love it here."

Journal Entry - 4 September 2002

"It has been a week since we got here. Today we are not the new guys anymore. I am getting to really love the guys I am with. Good night."

Journal Entry - 3 September 2002

"Today was P-day. We had a lot of free time. We did our laundry. There are over 200 washers and dryers, but still we had a hard time trying to find one that was available. We had our first Tuesday Night Devotional. We had Elder Sorenson. He talked about the holiness of the Temple. It was so cool. I wrote letters to Mom and Dad."

Journal Entry - 2 September 2002

"Today was a pretty good one. The spirit was strong in class today. I am getting the language very good. I was very proud of my self. I can feel the spirit helping me. This feels so good."

Journal Entry - 1 September 2002

"It's Sunday. Fast and Tesimony meeting was great. After church we went too Mission Conference. It was somewhat like General Conference, except it was the MTC Presidency, not the First Presidency. Then we had District Study. It is a study time for all the Elders in our District. Then we had a very good fireside about how to make your mission fun. We took a lot of pictures. I still don't have my camera"

I got three letters that day:

Journal Entry - 31 August 2002

"Today was a big day. Twelve hours of class. This is the most draining day I have ever experienced. The day drug on. I am way to tired to write anymore."

Journal Entry - 30 August 2002

"Today was a good day. I have been slowing in my remembering the language. They are teaching us so fast. It is so hard to keep up. This week we are also going to class for so long. My brain is starting to fry. I really need the help of the spirit. I am going to keep praying for the gift of tongues. My roommates seem to be doing just as well as I, but I still want to be better. I still do not miss anyone, I guess that is a good thing. Even thought the language is tough, I still love it"

Journal Entry - 29 August 2002

"Today was a great day, a lot of class. We learned to pray in Tagalog and to speak a little. We learned sentance structure. I am really enjoying the language. The food has been giving me gas. I still love it here though."

Elder Baugh - 1st Companion

Elder Landon Max Baugh
Brigham City, UT
Companions for 2 months

Elder Baugh was fun to be around. He was a shorter guy, maybe 5'-6 or 5'-7. He was funny and just an all-around good guy.

Journal Entry - 28 August 2002

"First day at the MTC. Mom, Dad, Stef, Jeff, and I all went out to breakfast. I went into the MTC at 12:30. We had a meeting before hand. Then we went out one door and my family went out the other. We went next and got our nametags. Then came immunizations. I had to get a Polio Booster and Hepititus A shots. Next we got our books. Then we went to our rooms. I met my roommates; Elder Cichy, Elder Remington, Elder Johnston; Elder Askerlund, and Elder Baugh, my companion. We went to so many orientation meetings, but they were so spiritual. We went to bed at 10:30."

Starting Over

So I went back through my mission box and found all my old letters from everyone and decided that I would start this blog over and do it better!
